Welcome to the first edition of the «Ancestral Hoard» magazine, the first and only magazine dedicated to the pre - Christian culture and traditions of Europe. The idea behind this project is to create, as the title says, a hoard of ancestral knowledge. To unite people of different fields, whose work and lives are dedicated to researching and preserving various aspects of the traditional European culture, in order to preserve the knowledge in physical format and pass it on to future generations. Likewise, the goal is to help promote the independent researchers, craftsmen and artists, who are usually left unheard and unseen by the tide of global mass production.
The magazine will be published several times per year, most likely four times, on the solstices and equinoxes, and anyone who wants to participate is free to contact us using the contact information found in this book. The magazine is self-published via Amazon and I, its editor and publisher, do not have any profit from it. The goal is not to make any profit, but share and preserve our ancestral knowledge, as well as promote the various people whose work revolves around it.
This first edition is not based on any subject, but since it is published on the Winter Solstice, we tried to at least keep it in the spirit of winter. Nevertheless the content of this edition is diverse, from art, photography and poetry to thoroughly analyzed articles in the field of mythology and folklore.
Art in its various forms is a result of inspiration from our Pre - Christian heritage, which in turn inspires the beholder and shows him the real depth and meaning of our heritage. The same result is attained by becoming familiar with various European customs, crafts, myths, and understanding their meaning. In the peak of our modern era, when our heritage is close to disappearing completely, both of these methods are absolutely necessary. Because we must preserve that which is good from our ancestors if we are to build a new future for our descendants. |
